DESCRIPTION
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic that at normal doses shows bacteriostatic activity against many Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, against spirochetes, rickketsia, mycoplasmas, chlamydia (Psittacose group) and some protozoa. Oxytetracycline is active against the following pathogenic microorganisms in poultry: Mycoplasma synoviae, M. Gallisepticum, M. Meleagridis, Hemophilus gallinarum, Pasteurella multocida. Of primary importance is plasmid mediated resistance. There is complete cross-resistance with other antibiotics of the tetracycline group.
Vitamin A is indispensible for normal night vision and has an essential role in normal growth and bone development, maintenance of healthy epithelial tissues, embryonic development and bone development, immunity, formation of red blood cells.
Vitamin D has an essential role in calcium and phosphorus homeostasis and bone mineralisation. It is also involved in the development of immunity and haematopoiesis.
Vitamin E has antioxidant functions and is involved in the protection against peroxidative deterioration of polyunsaturated phospholipids in cellular membranes.
Vitamin K3 is indispensible in synthesis of prothrombine and thus blood clotting.
The vitamins of the B-group play important roles in the intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and also in the synthesis of ribonucleotides (DNA, RNA), mainly after conversion to their respective coenzymes.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) has an essential role as a cofactor in the biosynthesis of collagen, in the synthesis of adrenocortical steroidsm in capillary formation, haematopoiesis, and eggshell formation. It is also important for the resistance against infections and stress.
